BACKGROUND

The Channel Group of Companies was established in 1992 when founder, Mr. Manuel “Nonong” Bagatsing, incorporated Channel Technologies Inc. (CTI) with the vision to provide cost effective information technology components to the financial services sectors. With an entrepreneurial spirit backed by solid business fundamentals, CTI has expanded its services from merely providing equipment parts to repairing and maintaining the entire machine in less than 10 years.

To cope up with the increased demand for its services, it has opened up offices in every major urban center in the country.  These offices are manned by full-time CTI personnel, to ensure optimum level of quality.   Moreover, it has also achieved a formidable presence in the banking sector with over 80% of the country’s leading universal banks forming its client base.

Channel Technologies Inc. (CTI) has now become the leader in providing maintenance services in the country. It is the only company that can maintain a vast array of network equipment, from the router to the UPS. More importantly, it has set the standard service commitment to it’s customers through its 2-2-0 principle  (2 hours response, 2 hours repair time and 0 repeat calls). CTI now has about 30 branches and depots

Channel Solutions, Inc. (CSI) was then formed in the early year 2000 as a software development and professional services organization chartered to develop packaged as well as customized state-of-the-art software applications for the financial industry. It also provides expert project management and consulting services.

THE CHANNEL GROUP PROJECT HIGHLIGHTS (PAST PERFORMANCES)

EQUITABLE PCI-BANK

The repair and maintenance of all PC’s and peripherals, ATMs, UPS, Branch Servers and Communications has been outsourced by EPCIB.  CTI, in partnership with IBM, won this project.  This is one of the biggest if not the biggest outsourcing project in the local banking industry in 2002.

BANK OF THE PHILIPPINE ISLANDS

The Channel Group has been a long-time business partner of one of the largest and most-respected banks in the Philippines.  BPI has the largest single-bank network in the country, and The Channel Group had a key role in its success.  The Company takes pride in its technical expertise that assisted BPI in its growth, through the provision of high quality refurbished equipment that allowed for quicker expansion at lowered costs. The company also maintained the majority of the ATMs and computers of BPI in the early 90’s. CTI has also played a major role in assisting BPI in the growth of their credit card business through the provision of over 8,000 EFT/POS terminals which helped them drastically expand their network.

SM SHOE MART – MARKETING CONVERGENCE INC.

The SM Advantage Card is by far the Philippines’ most successful Customer Loyalty Card program. In less than a year, there had been almost 1 Million cards issued and growing. The Channel Group plays a key role in the project by providing the loyalty host through its Singapore partner, OneEmpower Pte.Ltd. The Channel Group is also responsible for supplying and maintaining the EFT-POS terminals throughout all SM ShoeMart outlets nationwide, a feat that only The Channel Group can deliver. The development of real-time online points redemption.

STRADCOM

The Channel Group has partnered with Stradcom in its recent program to computerize the different branches of the Land Transportation Office (LTO).  The Group acted as a dealer for more than 2,000 USA branded computers that would be used in the establishment of the LTO’s computer networks.  In addition, The Channel Group has leveraged its nationwide presence and is responsible for the project’s nationwide warranty support.  Through the successful implementation of this large-scale and high profile project, The Channel Group has once again displayed the expertise and commitment to excellence that has made it a respected name in the industry.

COMPAQ DTI/DECS PROJECT

For the DTI/DECS project of 2001, The Channel Group was contracted to deploy – install – and maintain over 20,000 computers and peripherals to 1,000 public high schools nationwide in less than 120 days.  This included the training of over 5,000 teachers in these schools.  Only The Channel Group’s unique infrastructure of having nationwide offices in nearly all the 13 regions in the archipelago made this extremely challenging endeavor possible.

ONE NETWORK BANK (MINDANAO)

The Channel Solutions, Inc. (CSI) has been a long-standing Technology Partner of the country’s largest Rural Bank, the One Network Bank (ONB).  Being the supplier of fully refurbished high quality ATM’s, CSI has enabled ONB to realize its vision of attaining the premiere position in the Rural Banking Industry in the country, not only in terms of performance by spearheading technological rural banking business approaches but also in terms of incremental customer satisfaction through technology resource maximization.  With the use of the Millennium Hub, an ATM Switch System developed and provided for by the Channel Solutions Inc, ONB is now a member of the Bancnet, thereby furthering the bank’s position in becoming not only the fastest growing but has also even outranked several large thrift and local savings bank in the country in terms of financial performance.

Software

1. Millennium Hub Switch

Channel Solutions, Inc.  (CSI) initially started with the Millennium Hub ATM Switch System (MHUB) which has been designed to provide a means of an “On-Us and Off-Us” ATM System for Rural and Thrift Banks. Successful implementations have been manifested at no less than the country’s largest Rural Bank, One Network Bank.  So successful was this implementation that others have followed suit:  Robinson’s Bank, Equicom Savings Bank, City Savings Bank, First Consolidated Bank, East West Rural Bank (Green Bank of Caraga) and Bank of Guam to name a few.

The Millennium Hub is a Windows Server-based ATM switching system that allows the bank to provide 24-hour banking through ATM and EFTPOS transactions and also to connect to the country’s interchange consortia. For Cooperatives, the solution will enable Cooperative members to transact business through ATMs, Point of Sale Terminals, Internet PC and Cellphone within their own network or through the national interchanges:  Bancnet, Expressnet, and Megalink shared ATM and EFTPOS networks.

2. Convergence Host

The Channel Card Convergence Host® is a universal transaction processing system that can be customized to address complex business rules for authorizing various forms of transactions. The host uses ISO8583 as a base communication standard. This optimizes the system for handling transactions from private label credit cards, stored value cards, customer loyalty cards, gift cards and the like. The Channel Card Convergence Host® is currently used by companies such as SM ShoeMart to process its private label cards.

The host is designed to utilize multi-threading technology to optimize throughput and accommodate high loads of simultaneous transactions. It can easily be customized to handle customer specific business rules. It also comes with an integrated monitoring system which allows for ease in managing the system in production, business reports generating system that caters to fundamental MIS needs of the business and allows for the creation of custom reports for various purposes such as Statement of Account generation, Account Aging, Business Intelligence Analysis and others.
